The midfielder started his career at the club back in 2007 and has had three more spells since, with the latest coming in September 2020 when he signed from Oswestry Town.

In his most recent period at the club, the 33-year-old made 73 appearances in all competitions for Gresford Athletic, scoring four goals and providing 27 assists. He was also voted as Gresford Athletic Man of the Match four times.

Gresford Athletic First Team Manager Eddie Maurice-Jones says that Simon Smith has been superb during his time at the club:
