Gresford Athletic's winning run was ended away from home against Guilsfield on matchday 26 of the 2024/25 JD Cymru North on Saturday.
17 minutes in, Charlie Mann almost found the opener for The Colliers straight from a corner, but Luke Evans in the Guilsfield net made the save.
Then, in the 22nd minute, Charley Edge played a great ball up to Haci Ozlu, but the latter's effort is met with another good save from Guilsfield goalkeeper Luke Evans.
However, it was Guilsfield who struck first, with Cameron Allen's 27th-minute looping header put them in front, looping it over Lewis Dutton and crossing the line, despite Freddie Bulow's best efforts to get it clear.
Gresford Athletic fought back, though, and in the 45th minute, just before the break, Dave Forbes also bagged a headed goal to draw level from James Smith's flick-on.
HALF-TIME | Guilsfield 1-1 Gresford Athletic
The second half began with both teams aiming to take control of the game and find a lead.
In the 55th minute, there was some good passing between Toby Gallagher-Keenan, Dave Forbes and Haci Ozlu in the attacking positions, but nobody was able to find the space to pull the trigger and try their luck at goal.
Unfortunately for The Colliers, Guilsfield regained the advantage through Iwan Matthews in the 62nd minute, firing home past Lewis Dutton from a counter-attack.
Lewis Dutton did pull off a good save in the 65th miute, denying a one-on-one chance from The Guils to extend the lead.
However, in the 67th minute, Callum Bromley picked up the ball in the box and fired it into the net to make it three for Guilsfield.
Gresford Athletic still aimed for a goal back and in the second minute of added time, Haci Ozlu did well to dribble with the ball and play it across the face of the goal, but nobody was there to tap it home.
Then, in the fifth minute of added time, Guilsfield made it 4-1, with James Smallwood using his pace to get past The Colliers' defence and add to the scoreline to finish off the match.
Gresford Athletic must take this one on the chin and move on as they head into a week without any action for the First Team next weekend.
