Gresford Athletic draw with close competition in the table in Penrhyncoch at home on matchday 12 of the 2024/25 JD Cymru North on Saturday.

The first half was a very quiet affair, with neither side having many real chances.

Joe Nelson forced the first real Gresford Athletic chance of the game, firing the ball towards goal from long-range in the 23rd minute, but it went just wide.

In the 45th minute, just before half time, Toby Gallagher-Keenan turned well and hit the ball aiming for the opener, but it again went wide of the post.

The second half started brilliantly for The Colliers, with some good work from Charlie Mann finding Simon Smith, who curled the ball into the top corner to give Gresford Athletic the lead in the 50th minute.

Joe Nelson fired a free-kick on target in the 55th minute, looking for a quick second goal, but Penrhyncoch goalkeeper Leigh Jenkins made the save.

Lewis Dutton then pulled off a good stop in the 57th minute to deny a decent effort from The Roosters.

Then, in the 66th minute, Charlie Mann crossed the ball towards Josh Wakin, who hit it first time towards goal, but it went wide.

Josh Watkin then setup a good corner in the 80th minute, whipping it into Paul Johnson, whose header was unfortunately off-target.

After that, things went sour for Gresford Athletic, after substitute Geoff Kellaway managed to find the equaliser in the 81st minute, heading it past Lewis Dutton.

Ilan ap Gareth almost found an immediate response, hitting the ball with a first-time volley, but it was well saved by Leigh Jenkins in the Penrhyncoch net.

Just before full time, in the 90th minute, Dominic Deacon headed the ball on target from close range, but Penrhyncoch's Leigh Jenkins again made a good save.

The full time whistle blew and Gresford Athletic can be dissappointed at letting the lead slip, but cannot have too many complaints at the scoreline, which was probably a fair reflection of the game.
