It was an evening to forget for Gresford Athletic as they were beaten by Buckley Town on matchday two of the 2024/25 JD Cymru North on Tuesday.

The game started well for Gresford Athletic, who managed to find some posession and did well in the 10th minute to fire towards goal and rattle the crossbar.

However, the game took an ugly turn when in the 12th minute, Scott McHarrie was in the right place in the right time to tap the ball into the net for Buckley Town, despite numerous claims of offside from the away players and sidelines.

Ben Buley showed some great skill in the 33rd minute to keep posession of the ball in the middle of the pitch, but his long-range shot went way wide.

It was Charlie Mann who was next to try his luck, firing the ball towards goal in the 42nd minute, but only for Buckley Town goalkeeper Ryan Goldston to make a comfortable save just before half time.

The second half began in difficult circumstances, when The Bucks found an early chance to force Lewis Dutton to get down quickly and make the save in the 48th minute.

Then, in the 52nd minute, Joe Nelson did superbly well to cover his defence by getting on the line in time to make a crucial goal-line clearance to keep the score at 1-0.

Unfortunately though, in the 68th minute, Buckley Town doubled their lead through Max Moore, who drove the ball into the top corner of the net.

Not long after, Rhys Edwards got into the action and made it three for The Bucks, smashing in the rebound from Lewis Dutton's initial save from Max Moore.

Despite a late Alex Buxton effort with six minutes to go, that was it and Gresford Athletic suffered their second defeat in four days on an incredibly dissappointing evening.
