Should the weather be kind, Gresford Athletic start their run up to Christmas with an away game against Mold Alexandra on matchday 14 in the 2023/24 JD Cymru North on Saturday.

Gresford Athletic will play against Mold Alexandra on Saturday 2nd December 2023, with kick off at 2:00pm.

THE OPPOSITION

Mold Alexandra are continuing their great season in the 2023/24 JD Cymru North, sitting in fourth place in the league table.

They have won eight times in the league, including big victories against Chirk AAA and Porthmadog, and have only been defeated three times against Caersws, Holywell Town and Denbigh Town.

In cup competitions, The Alex have found some good form. Despite starting the 2023/24 season with a 2-1 loss against Buckley Town in the Nathaniel MG Cup, they beat Holywell Town and Guilsfield in the Welsh Blood Service League Cup, making them quarter-finalists. They also secured a 5-2 win against Saltney Town in the NEWFA Men's Senior Challenge Cup and, in the JD Welsh Cup, a 13-1 win against Montgomery Town and a victory on penalties against Nantlle Vale led them to a trip to Cardiff, where they were defeated 2-1 by Cardiff Metropolitan University.

HEAD TO HEAD

Since the formation of the JD Cymru Leagues in 2019, Gresford Athletic and Mold Alexandra have faced each other three times.

Mold Alexandra were the first to claim a win, beating Gresford Athletic 1-0 at Clappers Lane in August 2022 and then The Colliers beat The Alex away 2-1, through two Adam Hesp goals, towards the end of the 2022/23 season.

Gresford Athletic welcomed Mold Alexandra to The Rock last month, but the away side took the three points with a big 5-1 win in the 2023/24 JD Cymru North.
