Jonathan Hill-Dunt has been appointed onto the first team coaching staff

Jonathan Hill-Dunt has today been appointed onto the Gresford Athletic first team coaching staff.

In his early playing career, the goalkeeper played for Llandudno and Chester, but it was at Prestatyn Town where he really made himself known and cemented his name in the history books of Welsh football.

The 34-year-old became a legend for Prestatyn Town when he put in a man-of-the-match performance during their historic JD Welsh Cup win against Bangor City in 2013, saving a penalty, which led to the club competing in the UEFA Europa League in the following season.

After 133 appearances for Prestatyn Town, Jonathan signed for Gresford Athletic for the first time, where he stayed for two seasons, before signing for Denbigh Town and then later on joining Rhyl.

In 2019, the shot-stopper returned to Gresford Athletic for a second spell after a season at Rhyl, where he made 12 appearances for the club in the 2019/20 season, winning seven games.

Dunty retired from his successful playing career whilst at Gresford Athletic in March 2021 after the cancellation of the 2020/21 JD Cymru North season.

His retirement led to the club offering him a role in the first team coaching staff at Gresford Athletic, which he will start going into the 2021/22 season.

Welcome to your new role at the club, Dunty! Everyone at Gresford Athletic is delighted to keep you here!
