Gresford Athletic have today completed the signing of Jack Roberts from Saltney Town.

The defender becomes the club's fourth signing of the 2023/24 summer transfer window.

Roberts began his career at Chester Nomads, before making the move to Wales early on by signing for Rhydymwyn.

He spent two years at Rhydymwyn before signing for Saltney Town in 2015, spending eight seasons at the club and becoming a reliable member of their back line.

The 28-year-old made 29 appearances in all competitions during the 2022/23 season, keeping eight clean sheets and also scoring three goals, with Saltney Town finishing in 10th place of the 2022/23 Lock Stock Ardal North West.

Following his long-term spell at Saltney Town and a good pre-season on trial at the club, Roberts now signs for Gresford Athletic ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Gresford Athletic First Team Manager Eddie Maurice-Jones says that Roberts has been working hard during 2023/24 pre-season:

"Jack joined at the beginning of pre-season and already he has shown his qualities - honest, hardworking and he has a desire to learn.

Jack knew a number of the players before joining the group, which has helped him settle in really well.

Pre-season has been demanding, both physically and mentally, and Jack has took on all of the information and displayed a brilliant work ethic.
