Dan Richards has today been appointed Gresford Athletic First Team Assistant Manager.

He replaces Jonathan Hill-Dunt, who recently left the position to join the coaching staff at Connah's Quay Nomads.

Richards joins the club from Rhostyllen, where he has been First Team Manager since the start of the 2023/24 season.

In his playing days, the 31-year-old started his career at Cefn, before moivng to Cefn Druids and then having spells at Llangollen Town, Chirk AAA and Acrefair Junior. He also played for Cefn Albion for the 2015/16 season, before moving to Cefn Mawr Rangers, where he stayed as a player for two years until 2018.

A year later, Richards took the step into coaching and, following spells at Cefn Druids and Bala Town, he returned to Cefn Mawr Rangers as First Team Manager in 2019, before moving on to become Penycae First Team Manager in 2021.

Following two years at The Riverside, he made the switch to Rhostyllen as First Team Manager, taking the side to a fifth place finish in the 2023/24 North East Wales Football League Premier Division in his first season at the club.

Richards now joins the First Team coaching staff at Gresford Athletic to work alongside First Team Manager Eddie Maurice-Jones, with the pair getting off to the perfect start through Saturday's 3-0 victory against Denbigh Town at home in round one of the 2024/25 Welsh Blood Service League Cup.
