Rhys Jones9 Jun - 15:00

Charley Edge has left Gresford Athletic to pursue another opportunity.

Gresford Athletic can confirm that Charley Edge has left the club to pursue another opportunity.

The midfielder signed for The Colliers at the start of the 2023/24 season and has been an outstanding member of the First Team squad over the last two years.

He has made 65 appearances in all competitions since joining the club, scoring 22 goals and providing eight assists. He was also named Man of the Match seven times and Player of the Month once, whilst also being included in the JD Cymru Leagues Team of the Week three times.

As well as this, Edge was named Gresford Athletic First Team Management’s Player of the Season for the 2023/24 season.

The 28-year-old's role in the squad was recognised when he was named First Team Vice-Captain ahead of the 2024/25 season, replacing the departing Nathan Williams.

First Team Manager Eddie Maurice-Jones pays tribute to Edge for his spell at The Colliers:

"Charley has been unbelievable since joining us two seasons ago. His commitment and dedication have been second to nonce and I'm truly grateful for everything he's given to the club.

"He has an abundance of qualities - a winner, a leader, technically-gifted, hard-working and someone who consistently sets high standards. Above all, he's a geniuenly great lad.

"I'm gutted to see him move on, but I'm also really pleased that he's been given this opportunity. We wish him all the best, thank you and good luck."

Thank you for everything, Edgey - all the best!
