New Officers and reserve team management appointed

Gresford Athletic FC held their annual general meeting last night in the Gresford Legion. With the season on our doorstep and a flurry of changes in recent weeks it was important to put the foundations in place to drive the club forward for the 2014/15 season. The meeting was opened by Phil Jones as acting chairman, who did an excellent job as always in formalising proceedings.

On the playing side, the club would like to announce the appointment of the new reserve team managers. Taking charge of the reserves this season is Steven Halliwell. Steve has been around the club for many years and played for the reserve team last season. He has managed Llay Welfare 1st team and was very successful running the Gresford Sunday team for a number of years. Assisting Steve will be Matt Davies, another local lad who has played for the club at youth and senior level and will be making the switch from Llay Welfare where he has held managerial roles for a number of years in both teams. We would like to welcome both to the role and wish them all the success for the forthcoming season.

Away from the pitch and with the recent resignation of Rob Ratcliffe as Chairman and Steve Harris as Club Secretary, there were a number of appointments that needed to be made. We had a fantastic turn-out for the meeting and one of the largest in years with approximately 15 new committee members joining the club. The following appointments were announced last night, with some further changes to be announced shortly:

Chairman - Julian Davies (replacing Rob Ratcliffe)
Vice Chairman - Rob Hall (replacing Phil Jones)
Secretary - To be confirmed
President - Phil Jones

A full list of officials will be updated on the website shortly. We would like to thanks all those who turned up last night and to especially thank Rob Ratcliffe and Steve Harris for all their work for the club in recent years.

A fund-raising committee has been put in place and will be meeting to discuss ideas for the forthcoming season. We are thankful for the continued support of those people who have been at the club for a number of years and are staying on to offer their support and assistance.

If you are reading this and you would like to get involved at the club, whether on match days or off the pitch behind the scenes, please contact the club via the website or a member of the committee directly as we are always looking for people to help out.
