Gresford Athletic extended their winning run when they faced Llandudno on Saturday

Gresford Athletic made it seven wins in a row when they faced Llandudno at home on matchday nine of the 2023/24 JD Cymru North on Saturday.

The game started with Gresford Athletic almost having an early opener, as Charley Edge's corner was flicked onto Adam Hesp in the box in the first minute, but he fired it wide.

Simon Smith picked the ball up on the edge the box in the seventh minute and aimed for the top corner, but Llandudno goalkeeper Joe Angus makes a save.

In the 14th minute, Haci Ozlu put a good cross into the box, but Dominic Deacon's header went over the crossbar.

However, against the run of play, Llandudno's Danny Holland, a former Gresford Athletic player, slotted the ball into the bottom corner to take the lead in the 15th minute.

Gresford Athletic did not fall back, though, and looked for that equalising goal, with Simon Smith playing Toby Gallagher-Keenan through on goal in the 18th minute, but his angled effort was blocked.

Then, in the 22nd minute, Haci Ozlu managed to pick up the ball in the middle of a scramble in the box and tapped it home for the equalsier after Nathan Williams put in a good cross.

Charley Edge put a good ball into the box in the 33rd minute, with Nathan Williams heading it towards goal to try to find that second goal for Gresford Athletic, but it went wide.

Mike Jones was called upon in the 36th minute when he made a good save to end a dangerous Llandudno attack.

In the 41st minute, Llandudno go down to 10 men after a second yellow card is shown to Stephen Brown for a bad tackle on Joshua Griffiths and he is sent off.

Capitalising on the extra man, Gresford Athletic quickly take the lead right before half time, with Toby Gallagher-Keenan playing the ball to Charley Edge, who placed the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

Llandudno looked to try to find an equaliser immediately from kick off in the second half, forcing Adam Hesp to make a great 49th-minute block to retain the lead.

In the 58th minute, Haci Ozlu got his second goal of the game, getting on the end of Paul Johnson's pass following Simon Smith's free-kick hitting the crossbar.

Haci Ozlu almost made it a hat-trick, but his effort in the 68th minute was tipped into the path of Harvey Ellis, whose follow-up shot was somehow blocked on the line by Rowan Davies.

Gresford Athletic continued to hold onto their 3-1 lead, with Alex Buxton making a crucial, superb sliding tackle in the 90th minute in the box to retain the lead.

The final whistle blew and Gresford Athletic won with three goals to Llandudno's one, making it seven victories in a row for The Colliers, who are in fantastic form as of late.

Haci Ozlu was named Gresford Athletic Man of the Match, earning the award after scoring another two goals to keep increasing his tally for the 2023/24 season.
