The first half started really well for Gresford Athletic, with Toby Gallagher-Keenan scoring in the 15th minute, putting Joe Chaplin's deflected shot into the net for an early lead.

Both teams continued to battle throughout the first half, with neither team having many clear-cut chances, but Simon Smith did put a great cross into the box in the 37th minute, but it did not quite reach Charley Edge at the far post.

Gresford Athletic held onto the lead in the first half, leading at the half time break and happy to have taken their chance in an even game.

The second half began and Dominic Deacon did really well to pass the ball to the feet of Joe Chaplin in the 50th minute, but the latter's shot was saved by former Gresford Athletic goalkeeper Robbie Williams.

However, Guilsfield did find an equaliser in the 53rd minute, with Jamie Hyne finding the top corner with a fantastic strike from far out.

Mike Jones was then called upon in the 56th minute, making a really good save to ensure that the score remained level.

Gresford Athletic Captain Joshua Griffiths tried his luck in the 69th minute, having a shot from long-range, but the ball went way over the crossbar.

Adam Hesp found himself in a great position high up the pitch and had a great effort, but Guilsfield's Robbie Williams made an equally great save in the 89th minute.

The score remained 1-1 as the final whistle blew, with Gresford Athletic still looking for that first league win of the 2023/24 season, but with a fair point against a competitive Guilsfield side.

Charley Edge was voted as Gresford Athletic Man of the Match after he put in another good performance in midfield.
