Alex Buxton has agreed to sign a new contract for the 2024/25 season

Alex Buxton has agreed to sign a new contract with Gresford Athletic for the 2024/25 season.

The 24-year-old signed for the club in 2019 and has been a big part of the squad over the last five seasons, going on to make 123 appearances in all competitions, scoring twelve goals in total.

The 2023/24 season was arguably the most impressive campaign yet for the midfielder, continuing to build on his exciting playstyle, as well as scoring two goals and providing five assists in 36 appearances in all competitions. He was also voted as Gresford Athletic Man of the Match once.

Gresford Athletic First Team Manager Eddie Maurice-Jones belives that Buxton has had one of his best campaigns at the club:

"Alex has had one of his best seasons yet. His commitment for next season is a huge boost.

"Maintaining 100% training attendance demonstrates his dedication, which is evidently paying off in his performances on the field.

"With his great attitude and undeniable talent, he’s undoubtedly a valuable asset to the team."

Gresford Athletic First Team Assistant Manager Jonathan Hill-Dunt adds that he is looking forward to seeing Buxton push on again in the upcoming season:

"It was best form he has shown during the second half of the season.

"His ability has never been in question - it was just having the capability to put 10 or 12 performances together, rather than two or three. He has shown that he can do that now.

"I'm really excited to see him push on next year."
